save your memories

how many of you have a box of old videotape sitting in a closet collecting dust?  You spent hours shooting your families treasured moments…birthdays…family gatherings…weddings...baby’s first Christmas…yes…we all have dozens of tapes of precious memories.

But unfortunately, these tapes are deteriorating with every passing day.  Video and audiotape are made of magnetic oxides that come loose and degrade over time.  The result is a tape that can’t be played, or is so badly damaged that the machine can’t read the information left on the tape.

Not only does the physical makeup of video and audio tape break down over time, the likelihood of your tape machine working 20 years from now, or that someone will be able to fix it is slim at best.

I recently made the commitment to transfer my family’s videotape collection.  It took a little time, but it was well worth it.  Not only did I get to relive all those wonderful times, I now have piece of mind that these memories are saved in a digital format that will last significantly longer than the original tape they were recorded on.

So my advice is simple…don’t put it off any longer.  Take the time to have your precious memories transferred to a digital format.
